DNCE: The Rise and Fall of the American Dance-Rock Band

A Brief History

DNCE (pronounced "dance") was an American dance-rock band formed in 2015. The band consisted of lead singer Joe Jonas, drummer Jack Lawless, and guitarist JinJoo Lee. They rose to fame with their debut single "Cake by the Ocean," which reached the top 10 in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Success and Recognition

DNCE released their self-titled debut album in 2016, which debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart. The album spawned several successful singles, including "Toothbrush" and "Body Moves." The band toured extensively in support of the album, performing at major music festivals and headlining their own tours.

Internal Struggles and Breakup

Despite their early success, DNCE began to experience internal struggles. In 2018, it was announced that Lawless had left the band. The remaining members continued as a duo, but they struggled to maintain their momentum and released no new music after 2019. In 2021, DNCE officially disbanded.
