Anthony Edwards Injured
Edwards Suffers Ankle Injury in Timberwolves' Loss
No Major Injury but Return Timetable Uncertain
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards left Tuesday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs with an apparent left ankle injury. Edwards was injured in the third quarter and did not return. The Timberwolves said X-rays on Edwards' ankle were negative, but he will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury.
Edwards is averaging 23.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season. He is one of the Timberwolves' most important players, and his loss would be a major blow to the team's playoff hopes.
The Timberwolves are currently in seventh place in the Western Conference standings. They are 2.5 games behind the sixth-place Phoenix Suns and 3.5 games behind the fifth-place Dallas Mavericks.
The Timberwolves' next game is on Friday against the Chicago Bulls. It is unclear if Edwards will be able to play in that game.
